2025-06-15 Fathers Day

Rob and Big Jim

It was a very slow morning - again.  Blaine said he wanted to get out early, but by the time we all got organized, it was almost noon before we managed to get going.

The call was for the Event Site.  The forecast was for lighter wind than we have had, but when we got to the site, Dale Cook was there and told us that the wind was great.  He had just come off the water with his 3.5m Wing, and he was waiting for his daughter who is also now a winger!

By all accounts everyone had a good day.... well maybe not Cam.  He rigged a small board, small foil and small wing and worked his way up to the Hatchery, and then up to swell where he ran out of wind.  He said he spent a lot of time bobbing in the water and slogging trying to get back.  A learning experience...  Then for his second session, he took Travis's bigger board, foil and wing and went out leaving Travis with all the small stuff.  Travis did not have a great second session!

Cam was glad to be back on shore!

Harold said he had a good day.  The waves were really mixed, but he said he took that as a challenge.

Big Jim was blasting back and forth and making jibes.  John was getting up on foil, and Robert was blasting back and forth.

Thanks Kent for the photo

Ross won the day with 80km spread over two sessions.

Most of my day didn't count!  I forgot to turn on my watch until I was at the Red Buoy (probably 10km into the ride), and then after another 9km or so it went into pause mode.  When I got to shore, it only showed 12km when I am sure I sailed between 25 and 30km.  I did a short second session as the wind was lightening up, which brought it up to 19km..... Damn - how dependent we are on our watches....

Cynthia is arriving tonight, and Cam being the good husband, (Who wants more equipment), left to pick her up after 9.  Cam even ordered a non-alcoholic beer with supper - the sacrifices that man makes!

Today was a beautiful day, not to hot or cold, so everyone enjoyed sitting in the sun on the grass to de-brief and watch Big Air Jim as he rigged another sail to go our for a late day session!   Rumor had it that Jim did 4 sessions today!

It took a while for everyone to de-rig and make their way back to the Townhouse, but eventually we got our act together and walked down to Crush for supper.  Once again the service and food was excellent!

Another great day!  It looks like more wind tomorrow - I don't know how much we can take!
