Luhr Jensen Park

Ted and Louise at Luhr Jensen Park relaxing after a foiling session!

Louise and I woke early because the "Carpet Stretchers" were coming to take some of the wrinkles out of the carpet in the upstairs hallway at 7:30.  Of course, they didn't arrive until 8:30... Could have had an extra hour of sleep.  Oh well, nice early start to the day!

The forecast looked good for most of the Gorge, so we went to visit Bruce and Dale to find out the scoop.  I ended up buying a fin and mast cover, but it's not often I can get out of there without spending several hundred dollars....  Jim Mudry is now fully retired.  Bruce and Dale were very friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful as usual.

We were thinking of Viento again, but instead, we headed for Luhr Jensen Park.  It was a beautiful day in the high 70s, so much cooler than the last few days which was really nice.  I rigged the 3.5 Wing and 99L board for Louise and the 4.5m Wing and 90L board for me.  Both rigs were over powered at times, but then just right, or even not quite enough in the lulls.  Louise was a bit intimidated at first because of the small wing and high wind, but she started to relax and ended on a high note by foiling upwind from the Event site back to the Luhr Jensen launch!  Another very good day in the Gorge.

I had a good time chasing Louise around, and then continued to sail when she went to shore for a rest.  There was some small swell to practice wave riding on, and the wind for the most part was great!

We came in for a late lunch with every intention of going back out again.  It was like old home week.  We ran into Jim Mudry, who says he will connect with the group for a sailing session next week.  We also ran into friends we met in the Baja - Sonia, George and Judy.

We ate our lunch, and as the afternoon wore on, we got more comfortable in our lawn chairs and looking at the Iwindsurf Chart (Sonia had it on her phone), the spread between the lulls and the gusts was getting greater and greater.

Around 3:30, we packed up and left.  Great day.

We had dinner with an old friend, Andy Q, who lives here and who we know from La Ventana.

Louise is now packing as she leaves in the morning.  Kent, Harold, Blaine, Brad and Robert are all in Ritzville and will arrive tomorrow sometime.   I'm not sure about Cam, Cynthia, Jim and the rest of the crew.  It will be great to have the gang together!

It should be a fun week - the forecast looks great for the next week.
