This is Bella.  She came over while I was eating my lunch
and sat pretty until I was almost finished.
I had to break down and give her a bit of the beef from my sandwich.

Today was another windy day.  There was another Sailworks run, but I wasn't a part of it.  I did note that there was a new board in Jimmy's trailer and it really showed in his sailing.   Upwind performance and jibes were a total step up.   Kent and Harold went to Windance and Big Winds and came away with a new helmet and fleece.

I left early (10:30ish) and went to Moiser for an early session.   I needed to finish up early so I could pick up Ross at the Airport at 3:30.

I had my best session of the trip.  I was on my 4.5 wing and I sailed 31km.  The wind was a bit lighter than the last few days and was pretty steady, and the waves were organized, not a mess like yesterday. At one point, I thought I was doing really well and the thought crossed my mind that I may be one of the better wingers on the water.  Within 10 seconds of having that thought the winger next to me launched into a 30 foot high jump....  I guess I am no where close... still - Great session.

As I was packing up, I got a text from Ross that his flight was delayed.  I had some extra time now, so  stopped at Winddance and bought some new foot straps for my board, and at Airtime to pick up my repaired 3.5m wing and then stopped at the Event Site to have some lunch and visit the guys.

John had a really good day!

Everyone else had gone to the Event Site, and were out sailing by 11:30.  Kent sailed up to the red buoy but Blaine did not follow.  Cam and Travis sailed upwind ran into Kent and they all went up to the hatch.  Kent watched from the hatch while Cam sailed up to swell.  Apparently some sections of the river were a challenge with waves and wind coming from every direction but over all the swell was awesome.   On the way back down the threesome ran into Dale.   He and Kent stopped for a quick chat and Cam claimed 2 points by jibing around both at the same time.   Dale took off down wind and showed us all how to ride swell.    (Thanks Kent for filling in this section of the blog...)

Kent's track

Rob taped up his foot and got out for some rips.   He quite enjoyed the Ezzy sail and massive foil.   John headed out on a 3 and also had some great runs.   Big Jim sailed a 4.2 and was having a good time.  Brad was not recovered from his cough so stayed close so that when he coughed up a lung he could get back to shore.   The last one off the water was Big Air Jim who was enjoying his new board so much he just would not stop!

Big Air Jim on his new board!

I picked up Ross at about 4:30 and got back to the townhouse around 5:30 - about a half hour after the start of the oilers game.  The gang was all there watching the game - everyone pretty excited.  Even Bruce Peterson was there - so great that he joined us.  The Oilers were already down 1-0.  Not bad, that shouldn't be a problem.  Well it was.  Then it was 2-0.  Then the Oilers came back with a goal so it was 2-1.  No problem.....  Well it was....  Next thing we knew it was 4-1.  The oilers scored one more with a few minutes left while playing with an empty net, but then the Sharks responded and got an empty net goal just before the end of the game.  Our gang was a bit of a subdued crowd.

Ross decided he didn't need to watch the game and went out for an evening kiting session.  He had been sitting all day and needed some exercise!  He said it was a bit light and he had to work hard to get going, but once he got going he had a good session!

Brad, Blaine, Harold and Kent went out for the traditional ice cream after the game.  I doubt it was as much fun as last Thursday.

Early to bed.  It sounds like we should have wind again tomorrow.

Kent had a great day!

Ted had a great day a Moiser
31km in one session - only fell six times...
