Brad - Stressful Times!

Our day started slowly.  Brad and Blaine went to Dog River and then Bette's.  They said Bette's hasn't changed at all, other than the prices may be a bit higher.  Cherrie came over to say hi.

Kent slept in as usual, and Big Jim and John were organizing their gear and setting up their foils.

Eventually we all made our say to Sailworks where the usual purchasing frenzied began.  I don't think of us really needed anything.....  But .....  It was great to see Dale and Bruce!  Bruce told us that Sailworks may not be in existence in the fall when we get back.  He has the warehouse up for sale, and is hoping to retire!  Everything is on Sale.  Soooo....

Kent was going to buy nothing but had an instore credit he had forgotten about so picked up a new 400 mast to replace his old flex top no limitz.  Blaine also had a credit so picked up a 370 mast.  John is "considering" a Roberts Board.  I bought a used 425 rear stabilizer (only $125), and picked up my new foil mast cover and bought a Sailworks wallet.  In hind site, we didn't spend as much as usual, but then Big Air Jim and Cam weren't with us - they should arrive tonight, so we will see what happens tomorrow!

We had some fun when Harold and Brad presented Dale and Bruce with their 40-10 and 40-20 shirts - even though Dale is only 47.  He will have to wait a few years before he can wear it.

Dale Cook (40-10) and Bruce Peterson (40-20)
Proud members of the club!

We gathered at the Event Site around noon.  The water was flat, so Harold, Kent and I went to Moiser.

It was very windy again, but not as windy as yesterday.  I had a great sail on my 3.5 Wing - over powered a lot of the time.  Harold was on a 4.7 sail, and Kent was on his 3.2.  We knew we were at the right spot since Dale rolled in for his morning session right behind us.   As usual Dale lit the place up with amazing swell rides straight down the river.   He gave us a few great hints on swell riding with a foil then packed up and went out for his moto group ride.   No moss grows on Dale.

We came in for lunch around 1:30 and then went out for a second session.  The wind had lightened up a bit.  I should have switched to my 4.5m Wing as I slogged a lot, but did get some good runs.  I finished early so I could get back to the townhouse in time to set up my laptop for the hockey game (actually I was pretty well beat anyway).  Kent and Harold kept sailing.  Kent won the day with 41 nautical miles (76 km).  Wow.  Kent also had a bit of excitement when he rescued a wing board that was floating down the river.

Big Jim, John, Brad, Blaine sailed at the the Event site and had a great day.  They said they had to wait for about an hour for the wind to fill in, but after that it was great.  Blaine sailed up to the Hatchery while Brad, and John ripped up the event site on 3.9s.  Big Jim was on a 4.5 and mentioned that it was the smallest sail he ever used.  Everyone seemed happy with their day! Sorry I don't have any photos!

Robert took the day off because of his foot, but bought a good set of booties.

I got back to the house around 4:00 and set up for the hockey game!  Wow, what a game....  It was pretty tense when the Oilers were down 3-0.  We thought Brad might have a melt down!   (Kent thinks he actually did melt down at one point when the panthers tied the game and pushed us to overtime).   It was pretty funny since we had a 30 second time delay on the game so when the oilers scored Miss Canada would call Blaine to scream and share the excitement but we had not seen the goal yet!   Blaine would say "Wait For It, Wait For It", and then the Oilers would score and we would all cheer!  Too funny!

Kent and Harold came to the rescue with Pizzas during the first intermission!  You know who we all get when we are hungry, especially after a few beer!

Stress Relief

As you know, the game ended well!  Wow - who would have thought they could come back in a game like that!  Lots of fun!

Brad followed tradition and set up his Oilers flag and started waving it at passing vehicles in the street.  As he was doing it, Cam's friend Travis arrived and said - gee, I guess I know I'm in the right place.

Cam and Big Air Jim arrived about half and hour later.  By that time, most of us were in bed, but Harold reported that Cam was making a lot of noise....  Cam doesn't really have a volume control.

Another great day!
